DESIGN CONSULT:
With your help I develop a design strategy based on the way you live, whether you are single and working from home or have a family. The end result will be a thoughtful design solution which incorporates architecture and interior design. From new construction and cabinetry to color proposals, furniture, fabric, and lighting, the most satisfying design will arise out of how you live.
*Hourly consultations are available to help a client clarify their needs and are billed at a rate of $250.00 per hour. This fee will be applied to the design fee if a contract for services is entered.
COLOR CONSULT:
I am a big fan of color blocking to define spatial characteristics inherent in the architecture and to enhance natural light. I always try to bring a sense of the natural world inside a home through the use of color and materials that appear handmade; wovens, screened or blocked fabric prints, and wall coverings that incorporate fibers like grass paper to create a tactile and sensual quality. Clear color in combination with handmade textiles will always create a contemporary yet tactile ambience.
*Color consultations are available to help a client create a palette based on site architecture, natural light and lifestyle. There is a $1,500.00 flat fee for this service. This service will not be applied to full service contracts entered.
BUDGET:
Working with your budget I will select and manage the skilled vendors and craftsmen I have worked with over the years, who are qualified to implement the scheme we develop. We will devise a valued added approach to ensure your resources are spent thoughtfully. Antiques, custom made furniture, family heirlooms, catalogue items, or flea market finds are all familiar to me and widely used resources in the palette of my work.
ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY:
Living in an environment that is comfortable and up to date is an essential element in living well. Ecologically smart products and appliances help to keep a low carbon footprint and help create a sense of well-being. I always encourage the use of wireless technology.
Using low E paints and textiles that use natural fibers like linen, cotton and wool, never exotic woods, I believe is a way of respecting the environment we live in and promoting a healthier lifestyle. I will not use environmentally unfriendly materials or methods that may hurt health or the environment.
Also, there are many charitable organizations such as Housing Works Thrift Shop, The Salvation Army, and neighborhood church organizations that would be happy to receive unwanted furniture, appliances, and household items, usually with tax deduction benefits. Why create landfill with things that can be made good use of?
FEES:
I work with a fee structure that has two parts:
1) Schematic Design Phase: I will present a schematic design which will address
the size, scope and complexity of your project using furniture floor plans,
elevations as needed, proposed color concept and product cut sheets in order to
describe the proposed concept. This design phase fee will be a flat rate determined by the size and scope.
2) Production Phase: The production phase of my services will cover the actual implementation of the final approved schematic design. I will charge a 25% mark-up on all products and services specified for the project. An hourly rate for time spent sourcing, meetings
drafting and site supervision of work in process.
